Mrs Maria Harty
Chair of Governors
Maria became a Governor at St Edward’s School in 2015 and Chair of Governors in September 2016.
She has 5 children who have all attended St Edward’s School.
Maria’s background is in Health Education, and she is currently working in a Care Home in the dementia unit, writing and monitoring the implementation of resident’s Care Plans.
Maria is a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bedgrove.

Mrs Elizabeth Berkeley
Foundation Governor & Vice Chair of Governors
Liz was born and raised in the North of England and moved to London at 18 to study at Westminster Hotel School. On graduation, she joined Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts and began a 30 year career within the international hospitality industry, predominantly in recruitment. Since 2013, Liz has run her own executive search business.
In 2008, Liz was signed up a mentor for hospitality undergraduates at Oxford Brookes University and presents regularly to students there. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and sits on a variety of Boards for The Springboard Charity which promotes careers in hospitality.
Liz and her husband Grant moved to Aylesbury in 1998 and their two daughters attended St Edward’s School.
Liz is a parishioner of St Joseph’s and St Clare’s Catholic Churches, Aylesbury.

Mrs Pat Fuchter
Pat is a newly appointed governor to St Edwards and joined us in October 2016.
Pat recently retired after 36 years in the Civil Service. As a senior leader, she has many years’ experience of managing people performance, projects and programmes, and change management. She has also mentored a number of individuals for career development and coached others through problem solving.
Pat grew up, lived, and worked in central London before moving to Aylesbury with her husband 15 years ago where his boys attended the grammar school. Although Pat does not have any previous links with St Edward's she is committed to the ethos of Catholic education.
Pat is a parishioner of St Joseph Catholic Church, Aylesbury.
Mr Paul Sherley
Paul became a Foundation Governor of St Edward’s School in November 2016.
Born in Aylesbury, Paul attended local schools where he met his wife Louise and they have lived in the area ever since. They have two children, both of whom were pupils at St Edward’s.
He is a qualified accountant, and has worked in various finance roles over the last 25 years currently based at a utilities company in Windsor. Outside of work, he keeps busy with the family and is an enthusiastic but very slow long distance runner.
Paul is a parishioner of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Aylesbury.
Mr Martin Gibson
Martin was born in County Kerry in Ireland and moved to Aylesbury in the mid 1970’s. Here he married Angela and their 3 children attended St Edward’s School. Martin worked initially as a Computer Programmer, then a System Analyst and since 1992; he has been a Data Protection Officer working in information governance. From 2004 to 2008, Martin was Secretary to the National Association of Data Protection Officers and has written articles and delivered presentations nationally on behalf of the association, latterly on the subject of data protection in the Cloud.
In his spare time, Martin has been an American Football referee since 1986 and has refereed in the British Leagues and also at international level.
Martin is a parishioner of St Joseph’s and St Clare’s Catholic Church, Aylesbury.

Mrs Elaine Sidhu
Elaine was appointed as a new Foundation Governor in July 2017.
Elaine moved to Aylesbury in 2001 and is married to Kish. They have two children who presently attend St Edwards School.
Elaine trained as a nurse in London and is now a divisional manager at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust where she manages the division of medicine.
Elaine attends St Clare’s church where she is also chair of the new youth pillar across the Aylesbury parishes. Her two children are also altar servers. Elaine helps to coach the under 8 age group at Aylesbury hockey club.
Mr R Stokes
Mr R Stokes has been a teacher governor at St Edward's for four years. He moved into teaching after working as an electrical and electronic engineer. His 12 years of teaching have all been at St Edward's, a school he really enjoys teaching at.
Mr Stokes has lived in and around Aylesbury most of his life and is married with one daughter. He is a parishioner of Aylesbury Methodist Church.
Sr. Bernadette is part of the Religious Order within the Congregation of the Daughters of Providence.
Sr. Bernadette works in the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, Aylesbury and has been based there for over 20 years. Sr Bernadette regularly visits the school to listen to children read.
Mrs Helen Parry Foundation Governor
Helen was born in Edgware Middlesex. After A-levels she trained as a State Registered Nurse at University College Hospital,London. Following registration she worked in several London teaching hospitals,before moving with her husband and young family to Hemel Hempstead, Herts in 1988. She then worked mainly in Accident and Emergency/Trauma in Hemel Hempstead General Hospital. During this time she was also an active member of her children's school PTA, and a Reading Leader,as well as serving as a Parish Councillor.
In 1998 the family moved to Aylesbury.Helen worked at Poplar Grove Practice as a Practice Nurse for 11 years,before moving to Westongrove Partnership as a Nurse Practitioner, where she currently works.
Helen 's youngest daughter attended St Louis RC School, Aylesbury. Helen has no links with St Edwards School, but is a passionate believer in the importance of good education for all ,and that it is important that the excellence of Catholic Schools flourishes. Helen is a parishioner of the parish of St Joseph and St Clare.
Mrs Tracy Takaitei Parent Governor
Tracy has lived in Aylesbury for 12 years. Tracy has been married for 17 years and has two children who are 17 years and 8 years. Her youngest attends St Edward's. Tracy's background is as a qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse in 2003, and a Health Visitor in 2012.
Tracy has no prior experience as School Governor but chose to be one because of the significant personal growth her daughter has made since she joined the school. " I thought that if the school can support my daughter to make those changes in a short period of time then I would like to be part of the school team".
Tracy's background as a Psychiatric Nurse and Health Visitor will be useful as she has experience working with different schools to support both mothers and children needing various support from maternal health and children not thriving. The skills she will bring will be safeguarding, child development, understanding of children with special needs. Tracy is a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
Mr Mark Jatana Parent Governor
Mark was appointed a parent governor in January 2018 and currently has two children at the school.
Mark is a Software Engineer and for the past 10 years has worked as a contractor for a wide range of companies and industries. Unfortunately his work is also his hobby but when he does manage to peel himself away from his monitor he enjoys all the arts, running, cycling and playing squash.
He is a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Great Missenden where he and his wife Monika were married and where his children now serve.
